Hialeah Housing Authority HHA
|Miami-Dade County, Florida has several offices that administer United States Department of Housing and Urban and Development HUD's Housing Choice Voucher Program. One of the more popular Housing Authority offices in Miami-Dade County, Florida is the Hialeah Housing Authority HHA. Their primary function is to administer low income housing programs for the City of Hialeah.
HHA's federally subsidized tenant based housing program, Section 8, Plan 8 or Plan Ocho, provides rental assistance to low income families and elderly.
Families are selected from a waiting list and are processed for eligibility for the Section 8 or Plan 8 program. A criminal background check will be performed on all individuals over the age of 18. HHA will repeat this background check each re-certification cycle.
Eligible families or individuals can find and lease houses or apartments from the private sector and pay a portion of the agreed upon monthly rent. The Housing Authority, this case Hialeah, pays the owner or landlord of the unit the remaining rent.
The Section 8 program provides the property owner or landlord an additional marketing channel to get the property leased along with several advantages:
