Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program LIHEAP or Home Energy Assistance Program HEAP

The Home Energy Assistance Program HEAP or Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program LIHEAP is a government program that provides energy, gas and electric, subsidies for low income families.

These energy assistance programs come in many forms. They vary from county to county in the US. While living in Puerto Rico, I received a subsidy if my energy consumption was below 40 Kilowatt hours regardless of my income.

The Miami-Dade Florida program is run by the Community Action Agency CAA and payment comes in the form of credit payments that are applied to existing utility bills.
